Return of the legend.
Introducing the Canfield Jedi 29. One of the most revered downhill bikes is back and faster than ever before. But big wheels are just the beginning. With a redesigned frame, linkage layout and suspension kinematics, the all-new Jedi does what many thought impossible and improves one of the most iconic gravity machines in nearly every aspect.
I ordered my first jedi in May last year, in mid-June I had a grade III shoulder separation, unable to ride at all for the entirety of that season. This season, it's game on. This bike has changed the game for me and really brought back my love for true DH biking. The Jedi is just an absolute monster on those steep rocky, rooty, choppy unrelenting tech lines. The bike just wants to go faster but with such incredible poise and feel. I can't wait to see the rest of 2026 brings. I've also been very surprised at how lively this bike is on big jump lines, this bike is the real deal. Thank you to the Canfield team for making a bike that really lives up to the legend behind the name. Best bike purchase I've made to date, no question. The Jedi has been my deliverance.
Hey Conner,
What a journey and what a review!
We’re sorry to hear your first season with the Jedi was cut short, but we’re fired up to hear this season has been game on. Coming back from an injury and rediscovering your love for DH riding is what it’s all about. We’re honored the Jedi has been part of this journey. The fact that it gives you confidence in the rough while still making jump lines fun is exactly what we chased when building the Jedi.
“The brand, the myth, the legend” are words we won’t forget anytime soon and “The Jedi has been my deliverance” might be one of the greatest things anyone has ever written about one of our bikes.
Thank you for trusting the legend and for being part of the Canfield family.
Keep charging!
I have been riding my Jedi for about 6 months and it is my favorite dh bike by far. I have ridden a supreme v5 ,v10 ,chainsaw ,rage ,tues etc and by far the jedi is my favorite
Hey Timmy,
Nothing better than hearing this! Six months in and the Jedi 29 is your top pick — exactly what we hope every rider experiences. Awesome to hear it’s holding its own among some seriously notable heavy hitters. Thanks for sharing your experience and for riding with us — welcome to the Canfield family!
I've owned mine around 3.5 years now and never did plug in a review so here we go.
So bought the first frame when Canfield dropped the new jedi. Had been my dream bike for a really long time. I had owned a dh bike previous but not a top tier race machine. The Jedi is an unapologetic brute of a bike that somehow is way more graceful then it has any business being. The Jedi has always been a rearward travel monster (way before it was trendy) that is made to tame very rough terrain at all the speed. The newest gen trades a smidge of that rearward in for 29" wheels so that it keeps all the mobbing abilities but is far more balanced in turns and jumps as well. I have never ridden a bike that just mows through the chunder like the jedi. Rock gardens, deep compressions, off cambers, loose ground and breaking bumps all just disappear with no loss in momentum ,lack of traction or weird pedal feedback. What's super cool as well is that in turns and over jumps this bike feels nimble at speed. Look this thing is a bit heavy and its super supple but it changes lines, rails turns, and handles steep jump lips really gracefully without requiring undo effort. It is a well balanced dh bike. It just does all the things well and doesnt beat you up doing it. It doesnt punish bad lines, screw ups, or just trying to throw it in the deep end to see what happens.
Finally the Jedi is a tank in the most positive sense of the word. All AL and burly as. I have broken bikes before. My jedi is several years old now, its overshot jumps, cased jumps, hammered every rock out there, ate a few rear wheels, its been crashed like a dh bike a few times. Its still in insanely good shape and goes home from shuttle and lift days feeling like new way more often then anyone should ask a bike to have to do.
The only quirk to this bike is true of any 29" dh bike. Stand tall and strong or that tire will eat your shorts. Ask me how I know.
Short and skinny. You want a long term reliable dh bike that is at home going fast, composed, well balanced, has superior suspension, and a skull badge pedigree. The Jedi is still king.
Hi Ben, Appreciate you taking the time to drop such a killer review after years on the Jedi. This kind of long-term feedback really means a lot. Couldn’t have said it better ourselves — “unapologetic brute that’s graceful when it shouldn’t be” nails it. Love hearing how it’s still charging hard after hammering rocks, overshooting jumps, and shrugging it all off like nothing happened. This is exactly what it was built for. Stoked to hear it’s still your go-to DH weapon and holding strong. Appreciate you flying the skull, and thanks again for being such a solid part of the Canfield family all these years!
Absolute beast of a bike and an awesome customer service, I couldn't be happier with the brand. I rode this bike for 6 months straight every week-end from steep freeride tracks to the loudenvielle world cup from dusty Andorra to muddy Morzine, this bike took it all, and keeps asking for more. I never progressed this much in a season, I really feel like the limitation is me, not the bike, but without riding a boat like other brand. It is my first bike with 29' wheels and it didn't bother me at all, which was surprising because i'm 177cm and I ride with my legs quite bend and low on the bike. The most impressive part about the bike is the fact that I can go flat out in some blown out corner with huge holes and put it sideways at the next jump. the suspension are also impressive the ext vaia is a magic carpet. I would of course recommend a JEDI if you look for a 'downhill race' kinda bike for his riding capability but also because of his reliability. This bike is also really easy to maintain it took me 2 minutes to disassemble the linkage, and 2 minutes to reassemble everything and I only did it once in 6 months. The only thing I would recommend is to aim for a bigger spring, I received a 400 spring with me weighing 90kg at the time. I shaved a few pounds early summer weighing 80ish and had to buy a 475 and I have the hydraulics quite closed, I could go to a 500. To finish I'd like to thank Canfield and Michelle for the help buying the bike, for everything you've done and every questions you answered and for delivering to France, I'll speak to you very soon when the bikes you showed at moab will be available ;)
Hey Elie,
Really appreciate you taking the time to write that — what an awesome review! Sounds like you’ve been putting the Jedi through some proper miles, from Andorra to Morzine. That’s exactly the kind of riding it was made for.
So good to hear it’s helped you progress and stayed solid through everything you’ve thrown at it. And thanks a ton for the kind words about Michelle — that means a lot to us.
Can’t wait to see what you get up to next season. Moab bike launches coming out soon!
The Jedi 29 is an absolute blast. I finished building up this frame just in time for the blown out chunder that is end of season bike park riding and oh buddy let me tell you, it is awesome! Where before I was picking lines and bracing for impacts on my enduro, the Jedi simply feels liberating! It has freed my eyes from taking constant glances at the trail In front of me and overthinking line choice, to looking down trail at what is ahead of me while having full confidence in the frame to take whatever happens under me and just enjoying the ride. Even when the line I memorized yesterday is completely blown out today, it is eyes ahead as the frame does its thing and fades the chunder out of mind. Incredibly stable and fun to ride!
Hi Yoshi,
This is exactly what the Jedi was built for — smoothing out the chaos so you can ride with your eyes down trail and full confidence. Thanks for the awesome review and for putting the Jedi to work the way it was meant to be ridden. Keep pushing!
Incredible bike - I just spent 6 days on my new Jedi in the Whistler bike park on my annual trip. Took possession of it in Whistler (thank you to Ty and Eric @ East Fork Bikes in Pocatello). Quick setup and I was on the lift - what a difference the Jedi made, smooth and comfortable in technical sections, boosty and steazy off the jumps. I found myself moving faster than ever and feeling more in control - setting PRs on all the park trails I've ridden for years. The rear suspension just disappeared while I was riding, allowing me to focus on what was ahead instead of what was happening behind me. My riding group called the Jedi "crash-proof" based on how fast and stable I was riding, as if the force really was with me.
Canfield worked with the bike shop to accommodate my height in the bike build out - I'm a tall guy and getting the right setup upfront goes along way to making the bike feel right. Really appreciate the service, consideration, and the incredible bike.
Hey JSchiers,
This is epic! Sounds like you and the Jedi clicked right away. Stoked to hear it’s helping you set PRs and stay in control while pushing the pace—that’s exactly what it’s built for. Huge thanks for trusting us to get the fit dialed, sharing your ride story, and repping Canfield out on the trails!
The best DH bike I live this bike everything about it makes me smile and give me joy. I haven’t had the chance to go and smash some laps or shrelp any corners yet but I can tell that this is going to be the best beast of a bike I have ever ridden.
Hey Peter,
Love the stoke! Can’t wait to hear how you smash those laps and shrelp those corners—sounds like the Jedi 29 is already living up to its name and reputation. Ride it hard and enjoy every smile!
After doing my review of current downhill bikes, I decided to get a Jedi 29, and it was a great choice! Fast, playful, and has handled everything that Whistler could throw at it. I willingly recommend a Jedi 29 to anyone looking for a new downhill bike.
Hi Chris
Thank you for your review! We are glad to hear that the Jedi 29 has exceeded your expectations at Whistler Bike Park. The Jedi 29 is known for its speed and playfulness, making it a great choice for trails like Original Sin, one of my favorite trails. Happy riding!
