There’s a party on the trails, and you’re invited. The Tilt is an efficient all-rounder that climbs like a mountain goat with a meth habit. But make no mistake—like any bike with a skull on the headtube, it’s ready to party when gravity takes over.

A climbing machine

The Tilt is a climbing machine. I looked into Canfield as I wanted better climbing performance on local trails in Northwest Arkansas. It truly does climb like a mountain goat. I’ve joked with friends that I don’t think the back tire knows it can loose traction.

I’ve never had a bike so confident and planted on climbs and tech. There is always traction and the feel is immediate. It sets you free to worry more about line choice and pedaling technique than worrying if you’ll maintain grip through a section. The CBF is magical.

Downhill, the bike is just as at home. I’ve set personal bests on all my favorite trails after the swap, and the consistent feel of the suspension has been a huge part of that.

For fitment, I will admit I was a tad nervous as the ETT is shorter than my other bikes. However, the bike fits well and is incredibly stable and flickable.

The short stays really do help with line choice. I’ve ridden mostly short stay bikes these days and I love them for tight technical turns and weaving a complex line choice.

I also want to take a moment on the design, because there are so many nice touches. The ports for the cable routing are durable, bolt into place, and are large enough to make cable routing not feel like a circle of hell. Not having some dumb rubber port piece that is going to fail when you look at it is great. The shock bolts are also a great touch as they are designed to be captive as you screw them in. No having to find multiple Allen wrenches of the same size or remember which piece goes where. The bolts just bolt in. It’s so nice. Almost as easy to build as an externally routed hardtail.

Another nice note: the CBF lets you play with suspension without compromising the entire bike’s ride. I’ve played with more or less sag. It has changed my ride but hasn’t broken anything in how the bike climbs. That’s a nice touch and nice to have versus a bike that has a very narrow sweet spot for ideal performance.

I ride my Tilt mostly for trailing riding, with a personal preference for tech and climbing ascents followed by some downhill fun. But I live for the tech and climbs. The Tilt is the ideal bike for my riding.

A final shoutout to Lance and the team. They put up with entirely too many questions and calls from me during the ordering process and have been incredibly quick with any queries I’ve had. You can’t get support like that from a massive company.

Rocket going full Tilt

CBF is the best if you value technical prowess balanced with downhill capability. Frame is dead silent...not even a hint of noise. This is the bike I'd want for a fairly long ride or trips to technical places like Sedona or Moab. It works very well in our southern AZ tech/loose/rocky trails. I'm not joking when I say rocket...this bike takes off and keeps speed without getting caught up on anything. Very pleased with my purchase.

Hi John,
Love hearing the Tilt is living up to its name and blasting through AZ chunk like a rocket! Stoked the CBF is hitting that sweet spot — efficient when you need it, capable when things get rowdy. Appreciate the detailed feedback and for putting the Tilt to work out in AZ! Cheers!

Canfield Tilt frame and fork purchase

Getting to chat with Lance and his staff made all the difference for me. They went two extra miles and got me a special paint and it's worth every penny for my project, and helped me get set up with the right style for and shock. Happy to recommend Canfield to anyone who wants the next level of bike.

Hi Todd,
Stoked we could help bring your Tilt vision to life — special paint, perfect setup, the whole deal! Huge thanks for the shout-out, and we can’t wait to see you out on the trails and shredding. Cheers!

High quality frame that rides amazing! The paint job is stunning too. You receive top notch service from Canfield too! Lance and his team are responsive and super helpful. You get a quality product at a reasonable price with excellent customer service. Best experience I’ve had with any bike manufacturer.

Always a pleasure talking with you Steve, thanks for the review. Now go ride that Tilt somemore!

Rocking the rock gardens

Had my first ride on the Tilt and was very happy with the downhill prowess. I first thought that I would do an easier ride for my first time on the tilt, but then decided to take it to Irish Hills trail system that is mostly sharp rocks. Up and down and over rocks the climbing was great! I didn't feel like I had to fight as much to get up and over steps, and obstacles. Going down was just as fun. all the Shale and roots were eaten up in an awesome ride. I had more control and didn't have numb hands at the end of the descent. I threw tough trails at the tilt and am stoked . Customer support has been over the top with Lance and Michelle making sure I was completely satisfied!

Hey David,

Stoked to hear the Tilt crushed it at Irish Hills! Sounds like it climbed smooth and stayed controlled on the way down—that’s exactly what it was built for. Appreciate the kind words, and glad the support hit the mark too. Ride on!

Fantastic Bike

My first full suspension. Absolutely blown away by not only the bike but customer service. How many other companies can you call up on a Saturday and speak with a human to show you the exact bike listed on the website? Incredible service. Lastly, the bike was packaged / shipped so well. Couldn’t have asked for more. Thanks!!!

Hey Jesse,

Huge thanks for the kind words. Stoked the Tilt is your first full suspension and already blowing you away! We know that’s a big step, and it’s awesome to hear it felt right from the jump.

Also love that the call-in experience hit the mark—we’re always happy to talk bikes, even on a Saturday. Thanks for noticing the little things, it means a lot to all of us here.

Welcome to the Canfield family once again!

Tilt does it all

I’ve ridden my Tilt on the technical climbs and double black decents of Sedona to the fast and flowy single track of the PNW. It really is the best all around bike I’ve ever ridden. Low and slack enough to inspire confidence in steep terrain but tall and steep enough to avoid pedal strikes and keep the front tire absolutely planted in turns. There is some serious wizardry in how they made this thing put power down when pedaling, the traction is unmatched. If you are looking for a do it all bike this is the one!

I also appreciate they make a 29er in small!

Hey Reid,
Stoked the Tilt’s crushing it for you everywhere from Sedona to the PNW—and yes, small 29ers for the win!

Jack of all trades

I have been involved in the sport for 25 years. I have owned/ridden dozens of bikes, plus watched all the trends over the years

I learned about the Tilt from a good friend of mine. I rode his bike around the parking lot, went over some rocks, with-in a few minutes I realized this bike is special. With-in two days I ordered a frame and built it up. Simply put, This bike is amazing.

Hey Steven,
Really cool to hear from someone with 25 years in the game. Glad you felt how special the Tilt is right away, and that you didn’t waste any time getting one built. Welcome to the Canfield family!
