Canfield Brothers Unleashes EPO Carbon Hardtail 29er

Canfield Brothers is proud to officially release the EPO, a carbon-fiber hardtail 29er engineered for aggressive all-mountain riding. The first carbon-fiber bike from Canfield Brothers, the category-defying EPO is tested to all-mountain standards and built to take abuse.

Canfield Brothers EPO

Crafted around the aggressive all-mountain 29er geometry that Canfield Brothers pioneered with the Yelli Screamy, the EPO features a 66.8-degree headtube angle with a 140-millimeter fork for stable descending and ultra-short 16.3-inch chainstays for playful handling.

Canfield Brothers EPO Manual

The Brothers spent over two years testing and developing a variety of carbon-fiber molds, weaves and layups to ensure the EPO was tough enough to wear a skull as a head badge.

“As a high-end brand focused on technology and performance, carbon fiber is a natural evolution for our product line. But with our background in downhill and freeride, strength and durability will always come out ahead of weight savings for us,” said Lance Canfield, co-owner and designer.

“That said, you'll find this bike climbs surprisingly well, but we don't believe that just because you've got miles to burn, you should feel like you're on a road bike. The geometry was designed to be fun and playful—especially when pointed down—just like all of our bikes. The EPO is all about 'injecting' carbon hardtails with some fun.”

The 3-pound (1,450-gram) frame is the one of—if not the only—carbon mountain hardtails on the market that has been tested to the stringent new ISO all-mountain standards and features weaves of varying thickness, adding strength and lateral stiffness where it counts, while allowing a vertically compliant ride.
