Canfield Balance Review - Mountain Flyer

Canfield Balance Review - Mountain Flyer

When the crew at Mountain Flyer requested a Desert Loam Canfield Balance as the base for a custom build to put through the wringer on some of our favorite Colorado mountain-bike trails, we couldn't say no.

After spending some time on our signature 27.5 enduro bike on Colorado singletrack around Gunnison, Crested Butte and even our backyard Lunch Loops trails in Grand Junction, the Balance impressed, particularly the CBF suspension

"What surprised me most about the CBF design wasn’t how well it climbed and pedaled (it performed incredibly in that metric, but I expect all bikes to pedal well nowadays), but how exceptional the suspension felt in action. The success of CBF is that it allows for great pedaling performance without sacrificing either high-speed or low-speed suspension performance."

"No matter how rough the landing or how loose the trail, the Balance stayed planted and tracked predictably. Everything about the way it handles builds confidence because you know how the bike will respond," Mountain Flyer wrote.

"...the stability, control and efficiency gained with the CBF suspension steals the show. It’s simply an amazing platform, and the Canfield brothers will go down in history as two of the greatest minds in suspension design. The groundbreaking performance of the 2020 Balance is a testament to their particular brand of genius."

The full feature can be found in the Spring 2021 print edition of Mountain Flyer, but in case you missed it, it's now live online.
